From October 18th to 20th, the inaugural Central and National Government Agencies Retired Cadres and Forest Health Retreat Innovation Service Exchange Meeting was held at the Tangli Cultural Tourism Resort in Tonggu County, Jiangxi Province. RDI (Research and Development International) was invited to attend the exchange meeting.

Vice Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the 12th National People's Congress and Chair of the Advisory Committee of RDI, Baige ZHAO, delivered the keynote speech.

Zhao highlighted that the nation prioritizes the health of its people in its strategic development. Currently, China's health endeavors are transitioning from a "disease treatment-centered" approach to a "health promotion-centered" one, with the health retreat industry emerging as a new engine for economic growth. A number of national demonstration bases for the health retreat industry have also been established, including the Donghai Qing Song Ling in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, and today's Tangli Cultural Tourism Resort in Tonggu County.

The high-quality development of the health retreat industry is of significant strategic importance as it concerns the well-being of the people, the overall and long-term development of the nation, social stability, and the sustainable development of the economy. It is also the foundation for retired cadres from central and national government agencies to receive high-quality health and rest services. The industry is currently showing new trends such as strong policy support, broad development prospects, increased technological content, and a shift in health consumption demands. It is crucial to deeply understand the new opportunities and challenges faced by the industry, to strengthen the deep integration of the health retreat industry with science and technology, culture, tourism, education, and other industries, and to derive richer new models and business forms.

Fanzhi MENG, Chairman of the Forest Health Construction Working Committee of the China Forestry and Environmental Promotion Association, Yinghui JIAO, Director of the Medical and Health Integration Work Committee for Retired Cadres of Central National Government Agencies of the China Gerontological Society, Ran TAO, President of the Forest Health Construction Working Committee of the China Forestry and Environmental Promotion Association, and Deyu CAI, Director of the Industry Division of the Jiangxi Provincial Forestry Bureau, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Yue GAO, a researcher at the Academy of Military Medical Sciences and a Major General in professional technology, Jin ZHANG, a researcher at a national high-end think tank, Yingjie XIE, Director of the National Staff Health Promotion Engineering Health Retreat Service Center, Hongwei PEI, Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiangxi Science and Technology Normal University, and Rong MA, Secretary-General of RDI, along with central and provincial and municipal leaders, experts, scholars, media reporters, and business representatives attended the opening ceremony. Yongjun LI, Secretary of the Tonggu County Party Committee, attended the event and delivered a welcome speech, and Xiaoliang XIONG, Deputy Secretary of the County Party Committee and County Mayor, attended the event and made a promotional speech. Qiliang ZHOU, Chairman of the Tangli Cultural Tourism Resort, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

Yue GAO, a researcher at the Academy of Military Medical Sciences and a Major General in professional technology, gave a keynote speech titled "Research on the Correlation between Traditional Chinese Medicine Constitution and Body Aging Based on Immune Status and Gut Flora."

Gao pointed out that starting with the constitution of Traditional Chinese Medicine can reveal the essence of life phenomena. Traditional Chinese Medicine classifies constitution into nine types, which have an intrinsic connection with aging. Constitution is closely related to gut flora and immune status, with distinct characteristics of gut flora at different age stages and in different body states. Aging is accompanied by the interactive effects of immune status and gut flora. She detailed how artificial intelligence technology aids in the development of objective, intelligent, and personalized prevention and treatment measures, based on the scientific connotation of "constitution-aging" analysis, to achieve proactive prevention and control of aging risks.

Jin ZHANG, a researcher at a national high-end think tank, gave a keynote speech titled "Practice Exploration and Policy Recommendations for Promoting High-Quality Development of China's Health Retreat Industry."

Zhang pointed out that people's health is an important sign of national prosperity and strength. It is necessary to explore a development path for a Healthy China centered on people's health. The health retreat industry is an important way to cope with population aging, to tap into the demographic quality dividend, and to maintain social stability. It is a key measure to solve the dilemma of chronic disease management and to reduce the pressure on medical insurance funds. It is also an important engine for promoting consumption, stabilizing employment, and aiding economic growth.

The current trend in the wellness industry is towards younger demographics and daily integration. Zhang also proposed suggestions such as incorporating the construction of national-level health retreat industry demonstration bases into national strategic planning, strengthening the organization and implementation of high-quality development of the health retreat industry to form a policy synergy, and establishing government-guided funds and market-oriented industrial funds for the health retreat industry to support the development of private enterprises.

At the opening ceremony, the Forest Health Construction Working Committee of the China Forestry and Environmental Promotion Association signed an agreement with the Tangli Cultural Tourism Resort to jointly create a forest health hospital.

Participants also unveiled plaques for the Qilin Academy, Shilin Culture and Art Development (Jiangxi) Co., Ltd., Tangli  Ran TAO Academician Expert Workstation, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Traditional Health Preservation Characteristic Retreat Cooperation (Tangli) Base, and the Jiangxi Normal University and Yuzhang Normal College enterprise-college cooperative practice education base. The Tangli Cultural Tourism Resort's staff retreat products were also released at the meeting.

A donation ceremony was also held at the opening ceremony, where Chan LIU, a national first-class artist, a director of the China Artists Association, a professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and a doctoral supervisor, donated a calligraphy work to the Forest Health Construction Working Committee of the China Forestry and Environmental Promotion Association.

The exchange meeting aims to thoroughly implement the strategic policies of the Party Central Committee and the State Council on actively responding to population aging, to promote the deep integration of forest health retreat industry and services for retired cadres, and to strengthen the overall understanding of forest medicine, forest health retreat, and forest healing systems among all sectors of society. It also explores new ideas and methods for the integration and innovation of forest healing with the modern Traditional Chinese Medicine chronic disease rehabilitation system.
