Kui FENG is now Secretary-General and Researcher of China Center for Urban Development of NDRC, and Vice Chair of Central Economic Committee of China Democratic League. FENG is a PhD Supervisor of Beijing Jiaotong University, a Special Commentator of CCTV's financial channel and a Development Advisor of many cities across the country. He is also Vice Chairman of the Chinese Institute of Business Administration. He has participated in the research of policies for national and regional economy, new urbanization, small towns and metropolitan area development, drafted a number of important policy reports and put forward systematic policy advice, which have repeatedly obtained instructions from the Central Government, the State Council, the National People's Congress, etc. FENG has been actively pushing forward international cooperation of cities and planning a series of relative activities, including the China-EU Urbanization Expo, and the annual Euro-China Green and Smart City Summit together with the Foundation Prospective and Innovation chaired by Jean-Pierre RAFFARIN, Former Prime Minister of France.

He is the author of the Research on China's Urbanization Transformation and the Strategies for the Development of Metropolitan Area and Small and Medium Cities and Editor-in-Chief of China's New Town and New District Development Report (annually renewed), China's Characteristic Town Development Report, EU-China Smart City Development Report, China's Urban Development Reviews, B&R Development Report (2018), etc.

Being an influential expert in the urbanization, FENG has made important comments on the development of new urbanization. He has  participated in drafting and evaluating important national plans, and often contributed articles on new urbanization to central mainstream media. In recent years, he has been focusing on major urbanization issues, including coordinated development for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, new town and district construction, urban agglomeration development and Yangtze Economic Belt Initiative.

With a deep involvement in the innovation practice of local urbanization, FENG has proposed the transformation theory and model of multi-composite county urbanizationwhich have won the "Outstanding Achievement Award" of NDRC and been put into practice. In addition, FENG is invited to serve as strategic advisors of 20 cities (counties and districts), including Nanchang, Hefei, Fuyang, Siping, Meishan, An'shun, Shishi, Langzhong, etc. to carry out research and training on urbanization of cities and counties.
