Xin JIN is Member of All-China Youth Federation, Council Member of Chinese Society of International Law, Review Expert of Area and Country Studies of Ministry of Education, Review Expert of the National Social Science Fund of China and Adjunct Professor of Tongji University and Lanzhou University.

He has successively served as Deputy Director of the Information Center, Director of Division II of the Secretariat of the General Office of the International Department of the CCCPC, Deputy Director-General of the Contemporary World Press, Editor-in-Chief of the Contemporary World, Counselor of China Center for Contemporary World Studies, and Standing Member of Municipal Standing Committee of and Deputy Mayor of Chizhou, Anhui Province.

He has engaged in research on international issues for a long time and participated in research work on Marxist Theory R&D Project, Party Building, Project of National Social Science Fund of China and major subjects of CASS and the International Department of the CCCPC. He has published more than 100 papers, internal reports and 9 works in national core journals and internal publications of relevant ministries and commissions. Some of his papers have won national and provincial achievement awards and many of his research reports were well received by the central leadership and relevant departments. His monograph Report on Chinese Issues was rated as "Top 10 National Influential Books of 2001" and "Top 10 National Political and Economic Books of 2004". His Report on World Issues was granted "National Excellent Bestseller Award". And Report on the Ethnic Issues in China was highly recognized by the academia and relevant central departments thanks to its predictable analysis of and forward-looking insight of Xinjiang and Tibet-related issues. Since the BRI was put forward, a batch of relevant research reports prepared with Xin JIN as head have been approved and commented by the leaders of the Central Committee.
