Xiguang LI is a Professor and PhD Supervisor of Tsinghua University, Chief Expert of Tsinghua Research Center of Information and Social Management, Honorable Dean of the School of Global Journalism and Communication and Dean of the Chinese Academy of World Agenda of Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Director of the Himalayan Institute, Member of the Expert Committee for Crisis Handling of the Ministry of Health of the P.R.C., President of the Organizing Committee of UNESCO Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue, and Editor-in-Chief of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Website.

Xiguang LI used to serve as Executive Vice President of the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, Senior Journalist of Xinhua News Agency, Research Fellow of Shorenstein Center for Press, Politics and Public Policy of Harvard University, Science and Medical Journalist of the Washington Post, and Young Scholar of UNESCO Silk Road Project.

As a Young Scholar of UNESCO Silk Road Project, Xiguang LI has traveled more than 50,000 kilometers on the Maritime Silk Road, the Grassland Silk Road, the Desert Silk Road, and the Altay nomadic route and has been hailed as the "First Person to Go Through the Silk Road" .

Since 2010, LI has led his team to visit Pakistan 6 times at the invitation of President Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani and Senator Mushahid respectively. Li and his team in Tsinghua-Pakistan Culture and Communication Center have jointly held the Pak-China Joint Think Tank Seminar with the National University of Science and Technology.
