Yongtu LONG, Former Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of the P.R.C., and Former Director and Secretary-General of Boao Forum for Asia has participated in China's WTO accession negotiations as the Chief Representative of China.

In January 1992, Yongtu LONG served as Director of the International Liaison Department of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and began to participate in the negotiations for China's re-entry into GATT. From January 1995 to September 2001, he served as Chief Representative, leading and eventually concluding the 15-year-long negotiation of China's entry into the WTO.

LONG once served as Chief Editor of the China, WTO, and Globalization Series and frequently attended conferences and seminars organized by world-famous research institutes, academic institutions and prestigious universities, including those held by Harvard University, Washington University, London School of Economics, the National University of Australia, the National University of Singapore, the Netherlands Global Forum, Awashima Forum, Pacific Economic Forum, Royal Society, Asia Society, Asia Foundation, OECD and Asian Development Bank.

In October 2004, LONG was awarded a "Special UN Award" by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan for his outstanding contributions to the promotion of cooperation between China and the UN.

On August 8th, 2005, he was awarded the "King Leopold Medal "by His Majesty King Albert II of Belgium for his efforts to promote regional cooperation in Asia and economic and trade relations between China and Europe and Belgium.

On December 22nd, 2018, the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), the International Talent Professional Committee of the Chinese Talents Society and the Chinese Students Studying Abroad to Return Service Alliance jointly released a list of "40 Chinese Returned Overseas Students in 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up" at the "2018 Conference on Exchanges of Overseas Talents and the 20th Guangzhou Conference on Overseas Chinese Scholars in Science and Technology" and LONG was on the list.
