Jiahai LU is a Professor and PhD Supervisor in Sun Yat-Sen University with a multi-disciplinary educational background in epidemiology, vaccinology, pathogenic biology and veterinary medicine, Director of One Health Center of Excellence for Research & Training, Director of the Center for Health Inspection and Quarantine, Vice President of the Zhongshan Research Institute, School of Public Health, Sun Yat-Sen University, President of Guangdong federation of science and technology laboratories, Vice President of Guangdong tropical medical association, Vice President of Guangzhou Chinese preventive medicine association and adjunct professor of State University of New York.

LU has been a faculty member in the Department of Statistics and Epidemiology, School of Public Health, Sun Yat-Sen University. Prof. Lu's primary research interests include One Health, epidemiological assessment, vaccine development, and prevention of parasitic diseases (e.g. taeniasis) and zoonotic diseases (e.g. SARS, Dengue fever, avian influenza, rabies, and brucellosis), prevention and control in the field of infectious disease. Meanwhile, He has supervised over 10 PhD students, over 60 Masters research students to completion. He has been the principal investigator of a number of Guangdong SARS Tackling Projects and Hong Kong Horizontal Cooperation Projects and the list goes on.

LU has been awarded over twenty prestigious and competitive national and international grants, including Natural Science Foundation of China and the provinces, municipalities, and other topics of research. He has published more than 200 academic articles, including more than 50 publications as first or corresponding author in a SCI journal (e.g. Science, Physiological Genomics, Respiratory Research, Vaccine, BMC Infectious Diseases, etc.). He also serves as a reviewer for the Chinese Medical Journal, Chinese Journal of Preventive Medicine, International Journal of Virology, Vaccine, and BMC Infectious Diseases.
