Jianxin   REN

Former   Secretary of the Party Committee of and Chairman of China National Chemical   Co., Ltd.

Jianxin Ren started to work in June 1974. He was the founder of China Blue Star Chemical Cleaning Corporation, and the Secretary of the Party Committee of and Chairman of China National Chemical Co., Ltd. He was a Master in Economics, a Professor-level Senior Engineer, and a Representative of the 16th and 17th CPC National Congress.

Since 1990, REN has acquired and merged 107 state-owned chemical enterprises and has been praised by the official media as the "King of Mergers and Acquisitions" in China. In 2004, after the establishment of CHEMCHINA, he served as Secretary of the Party Committee of and Chairman of CHEMCHINA. He reorganized over 100 enterprises under CHEMCHINA into 6 major business sectors, with products ranging from basic chemicals to agrochemicals and organic silicon. The most important strategic layout he made during his tenure was to push forward CHEMCHINA to access to international market through mergers and acquisitions. The overseas mergers and acquisitions covered a wide range of fields with few repetitions. Most of the targets were top-ranked enterprises in the industry in the world/region. He said that CHEMCHINA would play an important role in the BRI for expanding China investment in Asia and Europe.

In July 2017, CHEMCHINA acquired Syngenta, the world's largest pesticide company, for USD 43 billion (equivalent to CNY 292.5 billion). After the acquisition was completed, CHEMCHINA successfully became one of the four giants in the global chemical industry.

With 40-year leadership in CHEMCHINA, REN has brought CHEMCHINA to the Top 500 in the world and become the "King of Mergers and Acquisitions" in the chemical industry.
