Lei WANG

Lei WANG is a PhD in Economics of CASS and a Master in Public Policy and Management of the Netherlands Institute of Social Studies (ISS). Currently, he is Director of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Director of the Chinese Association for European Studies. He also serves as Vice Chairman of Chinese National Committee for Integrated Disaster Risk Research Program (IRDR) of the International Council for Science and the International Social Science Council, Vice Chairman of Chinese National Committee for "Future Earth" of the International Council for Science and the Steering Committee of the International Social Science Council, and Member of Editorial Board of the China Economist (English edition).

He focuses on the study of trade, investment, taxation and other issues in China's foreign economic relations. He engaged in the study on international trade system at the Tilburg Law School of Tilburg University in the Netherlands, and at the University of Leuven in Belgium. His papers were published in Chinese and foreign academic journals such as Industrial Economy, Finance and Trade Economics, International Economic Review, and International Transfer Pricing and included in the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation. He published his monograph titled "WTO and the Reform of China's Foreign-Related Enterprise Income Taxation System" ( Social Sciences Academic Press, China ), which filled in the blanks of research on tax regime for Chinese enterprises going global, and was listed as one of the major books on WTO research recommended by the Ministry of Commerce of the P.R.C.

During his tenure, WANG actively organized and engaged in academic exchanges with foreign countries. He designed and implemented a series of high-level external training and research programs, including the Seminar on Economic Development of Surrounding and Developing Countries, African Presidential Advisor Seminar, International Symposium on Sinologists to promote China's economic and social development and humanistic communication between China and foreign countries.

He is committed to deepening cooperation between China and foreign countries, exchanging ideas with high-end think tanks, and implementing the EU-China Humanities and Social Sciences Co-reach Plan with the EU, which was to carry out a series of China-EU cooperative research projects in the economic, legal, sociological, environmental and other fields through the open tender. The Co-reach model has been praised by China and Europe as a model for international scientific research cooperation. At the same time, Bureau of International Cooperation of CASS established a high-end think tank dialogue and exchange mechanism with Russia, the U.S., Britain, India and South Korea to explore the ways to enhance mutual trust and win-win cooperation. The Bureau cooperated with UNESCO, OECD, the World Economic Forum, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the Latin American Development Bank, etc. to carry out institutional exchanges on major issues in the fields of global economy, technological innovation, policy regulation, humanitarian development and cultural diversity, and made China's voice heard in the world.
