Xisheng ZHOU graduated from the English Department of Shanghai International Studies University and studied in the Philosophy Department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He joined Xinhua News Agency in 1978 and served as Deputy Director of Washington DC Bureau of Xinhua News Agency, Director of the UN Bureau of Xinhua News Agency, Deputy Director of Xinhua News Agency and President and Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua Net, Vice Chairman of All-China Journalists Association and Member of Foreign Affairs Committee of 12th National Committee of CPPCC.
He is one of the first "Top 10 International Editors" of Xinhua News Agency, the "Group of Four" talent of the National Publicity and Cultural Front, and among the first batch of National Innovation Leaders of the National Copyright Administration of the P.R.C, and enjoys the special allowance of the State Council.
ZHOU has long been engaged in international and external reporting. He has been a reporter of Xinhua News Agency to the U.S. Congress, White House, Pentagon, U.S. State Department and Wall Street, and also served as a main reporter following the major leaders of the party and country to visit aboard for many times. He interviewed international dignitaries such as former U.S. President George Herbert Walker Bush, George Walker Bush, former UN Secretary General Kofi Atta Annan, Russian Prime Minister Medvedev, and economic and financial tycoons of Wall Street. He reported a series of major international conferences such as G7 Summit, the Meeting between Chinese President and American President and American Presidential Election. He served as General Director of live Chinese-English Reporting on Obama's speech in Shanghai during his visit to China, and Xinhua News Agency's reporting on Davos Forum, Beijing Olympic Games, London Olympics and Shanghai World Expo.
ZHOU has been engaging in the work of Internet, New Media and Media Convergence for a long time, established many large-scale websites such as Xinhua Website (www.xinhuanet.com), Chinese Government Website (www.gov.cn), China Ping Network, China Wenming Website (www.wenming.cn), etc. and APEC Conference Website, conducted in-depth research on domestic and foreign network media, network culture, network security, social media and digital economy, etc. He has long served as a lecturer for leading cadres of relevant central departments and local party and government organizations.
He has long followed up and carried out in-depth research on international issues, world economy, international finance and trade, B&R and the Internet, new media, digital economy, AI etc. and has published over 1,000 in-depth review articles. At present, he opens commentary column "Zhou' s Viewing on the World" launched by the Oriental Think Tank of eastday.com to give comments on major international issues and hot topics, giving highly accurate predication on major international events.
