Professor Yinan JIN joined the military in 1972 and has obtained Major General and First Grade Treatment of the PLA. JIN was Deputy to the 17^th CPC National People’s Congress and Member of the 11^th National Committee of the CPPCC. He used to be a Professor at the Research Center of International Relations of, Deputy Director of the Teaching Department of Strategies of and Dean of Research Institute of Strategies, as well as PhD Supervisor of Strategy Studies of the National Defense University, PLA China.

JIN is currently working as Adjunct Professor of Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC (National Academy of Governance) and Peking Universities, etc. Besides, he holds Expert Member of the Defense Strategies Committee of Chinese Association of Development Strategy Studies, Columnist of Study Times, Host of Yinnan Military Forum of China National Radio, Special Contributor to the PLA Daily, Military Commentator of CCTV, Distinguished Fellow of the Research Center of Strategy of Military Overall Planning Society of China, Distinguished Member of editorial board of China Military Science.

JIN mainly conducted researches in the fields of national security strategy, management of international conflict and crisis. He visited the National Defense University of the U.S. and the Royal Military Academy of the U.K. for study. His books include Competition: the Choice Between Survival and Destruction, Raging Song: Unprecedented Contest, Soldiers Are Born to Win, Blood and Glory and The Way to Win. He is the co-author of On Securities of the Nations.

JIN is one of the first “Outstanding Professional Intellectual Award” of PLA winner , gaining “Outstanding Professors Award” of National Defense University, PLA China for three consecutive times, “Five-one Project Award” of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, “Military Scientific Achievement Award”, “China International News Award” by the State Council Information Office for three times, “Golden Great Wall International Observation Award” by the PLA Daily, and “Excellent Research Achievements Award” of National Defense University, PLA China.

His work Brilliance of Suffering was regarded as “A Great Book which Depicts History of the CPC and PLA in an All-around Way with Innovative Strategic Perspectives”, becoming a hit in the society. In April 2010, the Organization Department and the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee jointly recommended this book to party members and cadres in China. In March 2011, the book was awarded “The Chinese Government Award for Publishing”, the most recognized award in the fields of press and publication in China.
