Special Staff Officer to the Chief of   Indonesia Navy

Desi Albert MAMAHIT graduated from the Indonesia Naval Academy in Surabaya in 1984. After graduation, he has received extensive military education abroad: the CIFR training in Rochefort Sur Mer, France in 1987, training on the French warship-GEAOM PH JEANNE D'ARC in 1988, the Principal Warfare Officer Course and the Anti­Submarine Warfare Course on the British warship-HMS DRYAD in 1994. He received a scholarship from the U.S. Government for his education at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, U.S. and obtained his Master's Degree in Management in 1998. After that, he continued his military education in the country: the Naval Command and Staff Officer Course in 2000, the Strategic Intelligence Course in 2001, the Defense Attaché Course in 2002, the Armed Forces Command and Staff Course in 2009, and the Course in National Resilience Institute in 2013. In the same year, he graduated from the Doctoral Program in Management and Business at the Bogor Agricultural Institute.

MAMAHIT served on various navy warships of the Indonesian Fleet Command in the Western Region and  the Indonesian Fleet Command in the Eastern Region, and at the Navy Headquarters and at the Armed Forces Headquarters. He got his promotion to the rank of First Admiral, 1 Star Admiral, and served as Commander of the Sea Security Forces at the Indonesian Fleet Command in West Region in January 2011. Then, he acted as the Deputy Assistant to Chief of Staff for Planning and Budgeting of the Navy in 2012. He got a promotion to Rear Admiral, 2-star Admiral, and served as the Commander of the Indonesian Naval Command and Staff College in January 2013. Then, he got a promotion to the rank of 3-star Admiral, and served as the Head of Daily Executive for the Maritime Security Coordinating Board in April 2014.

In June 2014, he was appointed as the President of the Indonesia Defense University. Since July 2014, he has also been appointed as Head of the PT Dok & Perkapalan Koja Bahari (PT DKB), one of the biggest shipbuilding companies in Indonesia, which belongs to the Government of Indonesia. In May 2015, he was appointed by the President of Indonesia as the Head of the Indonesia Maritime Security Agency (BAKAMLA), the organization under direct command from the President of Indonesia. And since April 2016, he has served as a Special Staff Officer to the Chief of Indonesia Navy.
