"Belt and Road" Initiative International Think Tank of CASS is a policy research and advisory body directly affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Its main responsibilities are to help deeply implement the "Belt and Road" Initiative proposed by the Chinese president Xi Jinping, to provide scientific, comprehensive, professional and accurate investigation and research findings for the development of "Belt and Road", and to offer policy recommendations and decision reference for CPC Central Committee and the State Council of the P.R.C.

Since its establishment in August 2017, the think tank has been providing professional research findings and recommendations by giving full play to "Belt and Road" Initiative 's important role in optimizing the global governance system and promoting world economic growth, with its focus on strategic and overall issues under the current trends. At present, its issued research reports focus on “Belt and Road”Initiative, development of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, relations between major countries and scientific and technological development and other important issues, providing strong intelligent support for the decision-makers.

Relying on the advantages of the high-level think tank platform of CASS, the think tank has an advisory committee composed of academic experts at home and abroad, and an international advisory committee composed of former dignitaries of different countries and think tank leaders. The think tank has formed an cooperation network centered with the Belt & Road Think Tank Alliance and China Center for City & Small Town Reform & Development of NDRC and China Center for Information Industry Development of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the P.R.C. It has an international team with sophisticated research ability of policy. It has been presiding over and participating in many major national-level research projects and researches on regional development strategies and planning, and has made many constructive achievements in pushing forward the implementations of the “Belt and Road” Initiative and other aspects.
