RDI was established amid the wave of new globalization and the 4th Industrial Revolution, aiming to actively accumulate wisdom and improve the core competitiveness of think tank talents during the process of promoting researches on and practices of the BRI. As the main excutive body of RDI, RDI Secretariat has always been actively involved in the great practice of the B&R construction and serving to the formulation of the “Dual Circulation” development pattern, based on the “Problem-oriented, Demand-guided, Project-focused and Result-based” principle. Its new-generation team with open minds keeps pace with the times and seeks truth and self-improvement with great courage and determination.

RDI Secretariat is a capable and efficient collective good at seizing opportunities. The historical juncture of China’s great rejuvenation and “changes unseen in a century” brings about a strategic opportunities period for China's great development and strategic risks posed by China’s coping with the world’s great changes. Under such circumstances, RDI must grasp opportunities and defusing risks, and provide reference for decision-makers. Core members of the Secretariat are mostly young people born in the 1980s and 1990s. They have strong professional background, professional dedication and collective identity, good at learning, communication and resource coordination. They can discover new opportunities by studying historical background and changes in the era, and smoothly implement their work through resource coordination.

RDI Secretariat is a continuous innovative collective with international outlook. As China steps closely to the center of the world stage, Chinese think tanks have become an important force in deepening global economic, political, and cultural exchanges and cooperation, serving as important platforms for the B&R construction and building a “Community with a Shared Future for Mankind”. That requires think tanks to have a batch of high-end talents who have international vision, understand international rules and participate in international affairs and competition. They should be able to view China from an international perspective and view international issues from the perspective of China. Members of RDI Secretariat closely follow up the international political and economic situation, focus on the B&R countries' connection with domestic regions. They keep pace with China's new round of opening-up to the outside world, and took Zhuhai, Qingdao, Ningbo, Suzhou, Baoding, Xining and Xiangyan as the strategic fulcra to build cooperative relationships with SCO member states, Portuguese-speaking countries, ASEAN countries, Central & Eastern European Countries, and European and American countries, giving full play to their functions and advantages as application-oriented think tank talents, drawing lessons and experience from other countries to solve problems, catching up with the trend by utilizing international economic resources and science and technology achievements, and promoting the process of inter-regional and international cooperation. RDI Secretariat keep close contacts with its partners, makes RDI’s voice heard on the international stage by organizing and participating in many high-level international conferences, and makes contribution to improving Chinese think tanks’ say in global governance and enhancing China’s soft power.

RDI Secretariat is a professional collective dedicated to serving enterprises. Since its establishment, RDI has positioned itself as a new-typed application-oriented think tank, focused on the exploration, nature and promotion of enterprises. By establishing seven professional service systems which include legal service, policy research, technical standard, information service, financial support, culture and brand and capacity building, RDI Secretariat actively promotes interaction and coordination between local governments and enterprises, and provides systematic service and support for enterprises to participate in the B&R construction. At present, with the hard work of the Secretariat, RDI has formed solutions for smart city and other issues, and its achievement closely reflects social practice and public demand.

Facing “changes unseen in a century”, RDI Secretariat shall grasp vital historical opportunities and shoulder important mission of the era, serve China’s socialist modernization and contribute ideas to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
